Sonia Compans is technical officer. She is the point of contact for security matters and supervises standardization activities carried out by technical groups on Cybersecurity (TC CYBER), including a working group on Quantum-Safe Cryptography, Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures (TC ESI), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), and Securing Artificial Intelligence (SAI). She provides expertise in standards making to enhance the quality of ETSI standards. She also guides the groups on the ETSI procedures, on the structuring and promotion of their work and coordinates their answers to and execution of EC standardization requests.
She is the project leader for the ETSI Security Week, an annual event looking at different aspects of cybersecurity underpinning our digital world: cybersecurity policies, legislative actions, cyberattacks, challenges, solutions, hot technologies and standards to make the cyber world safer. In the past, she supported committees dealing with human factors and accessibility, fixed networks, network technologies and Cloud. She also coordinated ETSI activities on Future Networks and Content Delivery, focusing on communication and marketing.
Previously she participated to the definition of the first Bluetooth accessories for mobile phones. She then worked for a SIM card manufacturer, first as standardization engineer dealing with 3G SIM cards definition, then as product manager for 3G SIM cards.
