Cybersecurity and AI: A Play in Two Acts (L12b)

In a digital world full of smart and complex systems, cybersecurity is a huge challenge and there are many activities around the globe addressing them. As technology progresses new challenges are rising and we need to constantly evolve our cybersecurity concepts. One such technologies is Artificial Intelligence, in its various forms. We are just at the beginning of exploring the benefits of AI but it is already starting to influence everyone’s life and is integrated in more and more digital systems and hence our security concepts need to address its unique properties and challenges as well.

The EU Cybersecurity Act is one of the most prominent regulations in cybersecurity and naturally includes the security of AI systems as well. The EU AI Act on the other hand is the most prominent regulation for the development and usage of Artificial Intelligence. As cybersecurity is one important pillar of a trustworthy AI system, we will have a look at the relation between these two dimensions. In this talk we will briefly discuss cybersecurity aspects of AI and the relation between Cybersecurity Act and EU AI Act. We provide an overview of the relevant standardization activities and broadly discuss the general aspects of the trustworthiness of AI systems.
