Biography
Thomas Caspers took office as Vice President of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on March 1, 2025.
From 2019 to the beginning of 2025, Caspers headed the Directorate General Technology Strategy, before that he was Head of Seciton for the Evaluation and Operation of Cryptosystems. Before joining BSI in 2003, Caspers worked in various companies covering scientific analytical solutions and health care technology.
From 2018 to 2021, Caspers chaired NATO’s Capability Panel for Information Assurance and Cyber Defense in Brussels. He represented Germany on the Governing Board of the ECCC of the EU in Bucharest from 2021 to 2025 and was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the CISPA in Saarbrücken in 2023.
Caspers was born 1971 in Duisburg. He studied physics and astronomy at the University of Bonn and holds a degree in physics.
